Job description
Geotechnical Engineer
High-rise & Complex Buildings | [Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia]
What if the foundations you design were what allowed a supertall tower to rise with confidence?
As Geotechnical Engineer within our High-Rise & Complex Buildings team, you will work on the ground-up fundamentals of complex building projects, carrying out detailed analysis and design of geotechnical works and producing the calculations and drawings that underpin safe, efficient and buildable structures. You will collaborate across disciplines and contribute to a team where geotechnical expertise is integral to how we deliver buildings that stand for generations.
High-rise buildings, done well, are one of the most powerful tools we have for building sustainable, liveable cities. With more than 300 tall building projects globally, our High-rise & Complex Buildings team integrates structural, MEP, facade, digital and sustainability expertise from concept to completion, because the relationship between a building’s structure and its services is where real value is won or lost. Data-driven, computationally advanced, and benchmarked against decades of global experience, we design with purpose for the people and cities that need these buildings to perform for generations. If you want work that genuinely challenges you, this is where you come.
The role
As Geotechnical Engineer, you will take responsibility for the analysis and design of civil and geotechnical works across a portfolio of high-rise and complex building projects. You will work closely with structural engineers, BIM modellers, architects and clients, contributing to project delivery at every stage from design development through to authority submission and beyond.
This is a role for someone who combines technical depth with a collaborative mindset, and who understands that great geotechnical engineering is what gives ambitious architecture its solid footing.

- Prepare design calculation reports and structural drawings for authority submissions
- Conduct research and development on project-specific geotechnical challenges

Team and knowledge development
- Contribute to the general development of the team’s capabilities through individual learning and shared teamwork
- Represent the future of design both internally across Ramboll and externally to clients and partners
- A bachelor’s degree in Civil or Geotechnical Engineering
- A minimum of 5 years’ experience in geotechnical design
- Experience in a consultancy firm is preferred
- Proficiency in geotechnical design and analysis software, including Plaxis 2D/3D, GeoStudio or equivalent
- Familiarity with Eurocode design procedures
- Knowledge of soil formations and geostructures, including foundations, retaining walls and slope stability design, and corresponding local authority submission processes
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong attention to detail
