Role Summary:
Dyne is seeking a motivated Co-op student to support the early drug discovery team. The Dyne Co-op program offers students the opportunity to learn about the biotech industry while performing hands-on projects. The student will join a team of chemists and biologists and interact with laboratory colleagues in a cross-functional setting. Working with a mentor, the student will learn to design, perform, and interpret various cell-based assays to enable the discovery of new therapeutics for genetic-based muscle diseases.
This role is based in Waltham, MA without the possibility of being remote. This is a 6-month position beginning in July.
Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited college or university Co-Op Program.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
- Learn diverse lab techniques such as mammalian cell culture, including maintenance of iPSC-derived cells, qRCR, capillary electrophoresis, flow cytometry, and ELISA.
- Learn the principles of receptor-mediated drug delivery and apply them experimentally.
- With coaching from your mentor, you will learn to plan an independent project, evaluate relevant literature, optimize a protocol, conduct experiments, and communicate results to the team.
- Learn to maintain clear, accurate records of experiments.
- At the end of the program, you will present a summary of the project to the company.
Education and Skills Requirements:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate/ graduate program in a life science track.
- Interest in muscle cell biology and drug discovery.
- Understanding of biochemical and cell biology principles.
- Previous experience with mammalian cell culture and maintenance is a plus.
- Familiarity with software such as Excel and PowerPoint.
- Attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Strong communication skills.
The pay range reflects the base pay range Dyne reasonably expects to pay for this role at the time of posting. Individual compensation depends on factors such as education, experience, job-related knowledge, and demonstrated skills.
