Job Description Summary
We are looking for a Protection System Engineer to join our engineering team in Noida, India, working closely with the Finland team in both project delivery and tendering activities for FACTS solutions (STATCOM & SVC).In this role, you will be involved in the engineering of protection systems for medium voltage and high voltage applications. The position includes preparation of technical documentation, protection setting calculations, relay configuration, and testing activities. For projects based on established standard designs, you will be expected to carry out assigned engineering tasks independently. In more complex projects, you will work together with experienced lead engineers who will guide and review the more demanding technical topics.
This role requires collaboration with global teams across different time zones and offers a strong opportunity to grow in power system protection and advanced grid technologies.
Job Description
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare protection engineering documentation for FACTS applications
- Perform protection setting calculations and validation
- Configure protection relays and participate in testing activities
- Prepare relay setting files, technical calculations, test procedures, and reports
- Participate in factory acceptance testing (FAT) and commissioning activities, as required
- Contribute to tendering by reviewing customer specifications and preparing clause-by-clause technical analysis
- Coordinate with project teams and lead engineers to deliver high-quality engineering work
- Follow engineering standards, design practices, and quality requirements
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering / Power Systems
- Knowledge of power system protection principles
- Understanding of MV/HV systems, short circuit calculations, and protection functions such as overcurrent, earth fault, and differential protection
- Good analytical skills and ability to prepare structured technical documentation
- Ability to interpret customer technical specifications
- Good written and spoken English
- Willingness to work with global teams and travel occasionally as needed
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–4 years of experience in protection engineering, substation engineering, power systems, or tender engineering
- Experience with protection setting calculations, relay configuration, or testing
- Familiarity with protection of transformers, reactors, capacitor banks, and busbars
- Experience in reviewing customer specifications and preparing compliance statements is an advantage
