JOB SUMMARY

Pyyne is seeking a Lead AI Backend Engineer with experience identifying opportunities for and implementing LLMs into financial services workflows to work as a consultant out of our South American Office. This is a high-impact role for Pyyne as we build up our Applied AI services and continue to create real business value for our clients.

A successful candidate in this role will be comfortable working with non-technical stakeholders to map current business workflows and pain points into real AI-powered solutions. They will be responsible for every step of the process, from client discovery and business analysis to building and deploying the identified solution.

This is a highly client-facing role and ideal for a great engineer who loves working with people.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Lead the end-to-end design of an AI-powered financial services solution, from architecture decisions through to production deployment
• Translate financial domain requirements into scalable backend systems, ensuring compliance, data integrity, and auditability standards are met
• Own technical delivery: define the solution architecture, select appropriate AI/LLM components, and drive build execution with a high degree of autonomy
• Collaborate with client stakeholders to validate solution design against real business outcomes and iterate based on feedback
• Run structured discovery sessions with clients to map current workflows, pain points, and manual bottlenecks
• Identify realistic AI automation opportunities — and just as importantly, tell clients when AI isn't the right tool
• Build business cases for automation initiatives: time saved, error reduction, cost impact
• Prioritize a roadmap of opportunities based on feasibility, ROI, and client readiness
• Maintain trust with clients by setting honest expectations and delivering on them

MUST HAVE SKILLS

• Senior-level experience in Python backend engineering (~6+YoE)
• Strong communication skills, with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
• Experience building or implementing RAG architectures
• Experience working with data lakes
• Experience working in structured, production environments
• Fluent English, Native or near native level

• Background in the Financial Services sector
