Job description

Under general supervision, the selected candidate will be performing the following duties and will be allowed to use their discretion to make independent decisions.

  • Prepare reports, perform analyses, and review payroll program plans and funding.
  • Perform calculations of tax windfall for employees on workers compensation.
  • Prepare workers’ compensation transactions to capture NYCHA’s savings and maintain an individual control log for each employee.
  • Plan, implement, coordinate, monitor and/or evaluate programs providing important payroll related services for the NYCHA community.
  • Provide technical assistance and training to subordinate staff in techniques of program implementation and management.
  • Utilize payroll programs as part of payroll processing for Payroll Distribution Change Requests and process employee job and payroll data.
  • Release and prepare information for the NYCHA employees and provide customer service to NYCHA community on payroll issues.
  • Assist in special payroll projects.
  • Perform other related duties and provide backup support for staff and pending retiree community.

ACCOUNTANT - 40510

  • A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university, accredited by regional, national, professional or specialized agencies recognized as accrediting bodies by the U.S. Secretary of Education and by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA), including or supplemented by 24 semester credits in accounting, including one course each in advanced accounting and auditing; or
  • A valid New York State Certified Public Accountant license. To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II individuals must have, in addition to meeting the minimum requirements, at least one year of experience as an Accountant - Assignment Level I or at least two years of satisfactory full-time professional accounting or auditing experience.
