Job description
- Drives Hopewell Center vehicle along assigned routes, transporting clients to and from designated locations.
- Checks vehicle for any irregularities and ensures oil, gas, antifreeze and other fluids are maintained at appropriate level; prepares work orders for maintenance, as needed.
- Maintains communication with supervisor, receiving instructions and changes in designated routes.
- Maintains frequent communication with client/family, receiving and forwarding information about client needs, conveying information about changes in pick-up and drop off times.
- Assists boarding and de-boarding of clients, safely secures passengers in seats.
- Maintains orderly conduct on vehicle, ensuring the overall safety of passengers.
- Completes daily attendance/trip sheets, ensuring all clients are in attendance or accounted for.
- Maintains constant awareness of traffic and road conditions and any irregularities in bus performance.
- Maintains appearance of vehicle, cleaning inside and outside of vehicle as needed.
- Responds to calls for clients and their families regarding pick-up and drop-off schedules.
- Performs related duties as assigned, assuring the best interest of both the agency and the clients' welfare.
- High school diploma or equivalence preferred.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and demonstrate a safe driving record.
- Certification in First Aid and CPR, with continuing completion of certification requirements.
- Ability to accurately maintain attendance/trip log and ensure that all clients are present or accounted for.
- Ability to follow all personnel policies and rules of the organization and maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to physically perform all essential duties of the position, including assisting clients to board and de-board vehicle.
- Ability to maintain orderly conduct and safe environment of vehicle passengers.
- Ability to operate assigned vehicle safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of traffic and safety laws and regulations.
- Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers, clients and their families, with ability to provide necessary assistance and information.
- Previous knowledge and/or experience with developmentally disabled individuals preferred.
- Ability to satisfactorily complete all necessary in-service training.
- Ability to utilize basic technology platforms, follow verbal or written instructions and ability to work independently.
