JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS
The Franklin County 4-H Therapeutic Riding Center is seeking a dedicated and reliable Barn Worker to assist with the daily care of our horses and facilities. This role includes feeding, grooming, cleaning stalls, and maintaining a clean, safe environment for our therapeutic riding programs. Daily Responsibilities
Turnout/bring in horses
Blanket horses as necessary
Feed horses hay and grain as instructed by Stable Manager
Clean stalls
Clean and fill waterers/troughs
Sweep barn aisle
Give medications and first aid to horses when needed
Some weekend and holiday hours required. If deemed experienced enough, assist with exercising and evaluating horses on horseback. All other duties as assigned by the stable manager.
Critical Business Need:
The Barn Worker position is essential to maintaining the daily operations and safety of the Franklin County 4-H Therapeutic Riding Center. This role ensures consistent care of horses, including feeding, grooming, and stall maintenance, which directly supports the health and readiness of animals used in therapeutic sessions. Without this position, the center would face disruptions in program delivery and increased risk to both animals and participants. The Barn Worker also contributes to a clean and organized facility, which is vital for providing a safe and welcoming environment for individuals with disabilities.
BACKGROUND CHECKS/CLEARANCES
This position requires the following clearances in addition to applicable background checks: PA State Police Criminal Background Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance Form, and Federal (FBI) Fingerprint Criminal Background Check. This position requires that you operate a motor vehicle as a part of your job duties. A valid driver’s license and successful completion of a motor vehicle records check will be required in addition to standard background checks.
