$17.00 - $22.10The referenced pay range represents the minimum and maximum compensation for this job. Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations.
Responsibilities:
Laboratory technician will be helping graduate students and the animal colony manager to perform research experiments and update animal protocols. The candidate will be trained in the necessary techniques and methods. Will utilize laboratory equipment, tools, and apparatus, computer, and/or peripheral equipment. In accordance with the objectives of the projects will conduct technical procedures, non-routine and complex in nature.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Performing experiments in tissue culture.
- Molecular biology; help in the characterization of mice overexpressing Sirt6 gene from different long-lived species.
- Keeping our laboratory animal protocol up to date by assisting the animal colony manager in entering new modifications of animal protocols in Topaz. Will prepare and check new and updated animal protocols for UCAR approval. Will also collect and organize answers from the animal protocol users to any questions and concerns raised by UCAR and submit them to UCAR by using the Topaz software.
MINIMUM EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- High School diploma or equivalent required. The ideal applicant will have a BA or BS in biology and laboratory experience.
- 1 year of relevant experience required. Experience in molecular or cell biology is preferred.
