40Position Summary
With direction from the Zone Manager and Working Supervisor, the Mechanic works with a team of 10-12 multi-craft mechanics to perform routine and emergency multi-craft maintenance tasks for campus facilities. Additionally, the mechanic works closely with internal customers including students, faculty and staff to resolve requested maintenance issues and work orders. Typical craft-specific work includes, but is not limited to, drywall repair/installation, room finish prep/paint, drop ceiling install/repair, window maintenance and repair, re-lamping/replace ballasts, replacing faulty outlets (including GFI), exhaust fan PM/replacement, clearing clogged plumbing fixtures/pipes, bathroom fixture troubleshoot/repair, HVAC maintenance, repair and PM, and furniture adjustments.Multi-craft maintenance activities will also include working with various plumbing systems, electrical systems, HVAC, paint and carpentry.
This position is a member of the collective bargaining unit, Local #148 International Union of Operating Engineers, AFL-CIO.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs tasks which will maintain the campus physical facilities in order to support the teaching and research mission of the University.
Responds to work orders and other requests in a timely, efficient, competent, knowledgeable and friendly manner.
Participates in the residential life summer make ready process.
Pro-actively identifies, communicates, prioritizes and addresses needs without direction when appropriate.
Maintains data per departmental policy.
Utilizes materials, supplies, tools and other University property in a safe, productive manner.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Must be willing to provide one's own hand tools; be available for emergencies after normal work hours.

Capable of doing extensive walking, climbing stairs/ladders, lifting/carrying up to 50 lbs. and other similar physical activity.

Required Qualifications:
Must have successfully completed a recognized craft apprenticeship program, a technical school training program (such as a Ranken Technical College two-year certification program) or other equivalent training program.
Must be able to obtain a Missouri Class E Driver’s License by the end of the probationary period and cannot drive University owned vehicles until Class E Driver’s License is obtained.

$39.26The salary rate for this position is determined by the current union contract. Please note that there may be salary differentials for working second or third shifts.
