Job Overview:

We are seeking a Tax Manager to lead and oversee all aspects of tax compliance, planning, and reporting and research, etc.. This role is responsible for ensuring the organization meets its federal, state, and local tax obligations while optimizing its overall tax position, and primarily focuses on complex consolidated tax returns, including the management of intricate tax-sharing agreements and the reconciliation of various tax attributes across affiliates. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in both direct and indirect tax types and the ability to manage complex audits and technical research.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the end-to-end preparation and review of complex federal consolidated return, state, and local corporate income and franchise tax returns, extensions and quarterly estimated tax payments.
  • Manage and maintain complicated tax-sharing agreements; track and reconcile various tax attributes of affiliates (e.g., NOLs, credits, and basis adjustments) to ensure accurate intercompany allocations and reconciliations.
  • Maintain detailed and audit-ready workpapers to support all tax filings and provision calculations.
  • Prepare quarterly and annual income tax provision calculations for financial statement reporting.
  • Manage compliance for domestic and international withholding taxes, including the preparation and filing of relevant returns.
  • Lead the strategy and execution of all federal, state, and local income tax audits; serve as the primary liaison with tax authorities, manage documentation requests, and negotiate audit settlements and appeals.
  • Oversee multi-state sales and use tax compliance, including the review of filings, nexus monitoring, and the management of use tax accruals and exemption certificates.
  • Manage the end-to-end property tax cycle, including the timely filing of renditions, valuation reviews, and payment of assessments for real and personal property.
  • Ensure adherence to various other tax obligations, such as gross receipts, business licenses, and excise taxes, across all relevant jurisdictions.
  • Conduct research on complex tax issues to support business decisions and defend tax positions.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. A Master’s in Taxation (MST) is highly preferred.
  • Certification: CPA is highly preferred.
  • Experience: 5+ years of experience in corporate tax within public accounting (Big 4 or mid-tier) or a multinational corporate tax department.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Strong proficiency in IAS 12 (IFRS) or a deep understanding of ASC 740 with the ability to bridge to IFRS.
    • Expertise in consolidated tax return regulations and intercompany tax accounting.
    • Hands-on experience with corporate tax compliance and ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Soft Skills: Proven ability to manage complex deadlines and communicate technical tax data.
