Global Head Cloud & Hosting Services

The Global Head Cloud & Hosting Services will  take end-to-end accountability for Sandoz’s global hosting and cloud platforms, including on premise, private and public cloud services and SAP Basis, ensuring resilient, secure, compliant, and cost-effective service delivery while enabling scalable, automation driven consumption of infrastructure services across all business domains.

Major accountabilities:

Strategy & service portfolio leadership

  • Deliver the global hosting and cloud strategy (on‑prem, private, public) aligned to enterprise architecture and business priorities, with measurable impact in platform resilience, delivery speed and cost efficiency.
  • Own the hosting services portfolio and roadmap to meet agreed service levels (availability, performance, recoverability and capacity) while optimising total cost of ownership and standardising platform offerings.

Platform lifecycle, engineering & standardisation

  • Ensure services are designed, built and transitioned into operations with clear acceptance criteria, reducing time‑to‑deploy and lowering lifecycle risk through disciplined standards, documentation and end‑to‑end ownership.
  • Increase automation and self‑service adoption (infrastructure‑as‑code, standard build patterns, patching and lifecycle automation) to improve provisioning lead times, reduce operational toil and enhance service quality.

Operational excellence, security & compliance

  • Maintain stable, secure and compliant operations across regulated (GxP) and non‑regulated environments, achieving audit‑ready controls, timely remediation of findings and sustained adherence to governance standards.
  • Deliver resilient and compliant SAP Basis services that meet agreed availability and performance targets, enabling predictable release execution and supporting SAP transformation milestones in partnership with application and business teams.

Commercial, financial & supplier management

  • Deliver transparent financial management and cost optimisation (budget/forecast accuracy, showback/chargeback, unit cost visibility) to improve cost predictability and drive measurable savings without compromising service levels.
  • Hold strategic suppliers and cloud partners accountable to contracted outcomes (SLA achievement, incident/problem performance, security obligations and continuous improvement), supported by clear KPIs, governance and escalation.

People leadership & stakeholder governance

  • Build and lead a high‑performing, globally distributed organisation with clear ownership and capability development, driving engagement, retention and succession coverage for critical roles.
  • Ensure end‑to‑end service integration with Infrastructure & Operations, Cyber Security, Enterprise Architecture, SIAM and Application teams, improving customer experience through clear governance, prioritisation and transparent performance reporting.

Minimum Requirements:

Education

  • University degree in Computer Science or comparable education, with extensive experience in global IT infrastructure, hosting, cloud services, and SAP technical platforms, including senior leadership roles in complex, regulated enterprise environments

Languages

  • Fluent English required (oral and written)

Experience and Skills

  • 15+ years’ experience in enterprise infrastructure operations and hosting/cloud platforms, including accountability for business‑critical services in complex, regulated environments.
  • 10+ years leading global service portfolios and operating models across geographies (e.g., ITIL/ITSM, SRE/engineering practices), with demonstrable improvements in reliability, performance and customer experience.
  • Proven delivery of large, multi‑country programmes on time and within budget (platform refresh, cloud migration/modernisation, standardisation and service industrialisation).
  • Strong knowledge of SAP technical platforms and SAP Basis operations, including stability, performance, change/release execution and transformation support.
  • Demonstrated ability to run secure and compliant services, including audit readiness, risk management and operating in GxP‑regulated contexts.
  • Engineering mindset with a track record of increasing automation/self‑service (e.g., infrastructure‑as‑code, standard build patterns, patch automation) and reducing operational toil.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen, including budget ownership, consumption governance, unit cost transparency and cost‑optimisation delivery.
  • Experience negotiating and governing strategic suppliers/partners, translating contracts into measurable outcomes and continuous improvement.
  • 10+ years leading leaders with evidence of building high‑performing teams, developing talent and influencing senior stakeholders.
