Job description
Position Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and student-centered Extended School Year (ESY) Special Education Teacher to provide high-quality instructional support during the summer session. The ESY teacher will work with students with disabilities to maintain critical academic, behavioral, and functional skills as outlined in their Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized instruction aligned to students’ IEP goals
- Focus on maintaining essential skills and preventing regression over the summer break
- Implement accommodations, modifications, and supports as outlined in IEPs
- Collect and document data on student progress and skill maintenance
- Collaborate with paraprofessionals, related service providers, and staff
- Maintain a structured, supportive classroom environment
- Implement behavior intervention strategies as needed
- Communicate with families regarding student progress during ESY
- Prepare and submit progress reports at the conclusion of the program
- Valid Special Education teaching certification (required)
- Experience working with students with diverse learning needs
- Knowledge of IEP implementation and progress monitoring
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a team
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with ESY programming or summer instruction
- Familiarity with behavior intervention plans (BIPs)
- Experience supporting students with a range of disabilities

The candidate is expected to attend conferences, meetings and training sessions both virtually and in person within the Region.
Work Environment
Reports to work Monday-Friday.
Typical school or office environment with frequent interruptions.
Travel Requirements:
Ability to travel to work location.
Compensation and Benefits:
Salary for this positoin is $3,000 for the entire summer session.
