Job description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Assistant Resident Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates. In this role, you will support the Resident Engineer in overseeing quality assurance, quality control, and compliance activities on construction projects. You will play a key part in ensuring that all work meets specifications, codes, and project standards while maintaining transparent communication with contractors, consultants, and project stakeholders. **Quality Management & Governance**

  • Assist in implementing the project Quality Management Plan (QMP) at site and enforce Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs), checklists, and method statements
  • Review contractor submittals including ITPs, method statements, material approvals, and inspection checklists; provide technical input and recommendations
  • Support the development and maintenance of quality documentation and control procedures

**Inspections, Testing & Compliance**

  • Conduct and witness inspections across civil, architectural, and MEP works including foundations, superstructure, waterproofing, finishes, and MEP installations
  • Verify material approvals and delivery compliance against specifications and approved samples
  • Coordinate with laboratory testing providers and third-party inspectors; track and verify that test results meet acceptance criteria
  • Monitor ITP hold and witness points; ensure timely inspection requests and documentation closure

**Non-Conformance & Corrective Actions**

  • Assist in raising, tracking, and managing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), Site Observation Reports (SORs), and quality observations
  • Support root-cause analysis activities and verify the effectiveness of contractor corrective actions
  • Maintain organized logs and records for quality issues and preventive measures

**Quality Surveillance & Audits**

  • Conduct routine quality surveillance activities focusing on workmanship, housekeeping, material storage, and traceability
  • Participate in internal quality audits and benchmark findings against specifications, codes, and industry best practices
  • Escalate systemic quality issues promptly to the Resident Engineer and project management team

**Snagging & Defect Management**

  • Assist in snagging and de-snagging activities for project areas; coordinate multi-discipline punch lists
  • Support defect tracking and closure through the project defect management system
  • Verify rectification of identified defects and compile supporting documentation

**Coordination & Communication**

  • Attend quality and snagging coordination meetings with contractors and consultant teams
  • Provide technical support and clarifications to resolve site quality issues efficiently
  • Ensure quality control activities align with Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) requirements
  • Communicate findings and recommendations in a clear, professional, and transparent manner

**Documentation & Reporting**

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date quality records including inspection reports, test certificates, checklists, NCRs, and audit documentation
  • Assist in preparing quality dashboards, snag closure reports, and exception reports for the Resident Engineer and client
  • Ensure proper document control and traceability in accordance with project protocols

**Required Qualifications**

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a related engineering discipline
  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in construction quality assurance/quality control, site inspection, or construction supervision on building and construction projects
  • Demonstrated knowledge of quality management systems, inspection methodologies, and construction specifications
  • Strong understanding of civil, architectural, and MEP construction processes and standards
  • Proficiency in quality documentation, report writing, and record-keeping
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to work collaboratively with contractors, consultants, and project teams
  • Analytical mindset with attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
  • Familiarity with defect management systems and quality tracking software
  • Knowledge of construction contracts, specifications, and relevant building codes and standards

**Preferred Qualifications**

  • Experience with project management software and digital inspection tools
  • Familiarity with UAE construction standards, regulations, and local building codes
  • Previous experience in snagging, de-snagging, and handover processes
  • Knowledge of testing and commissioning procedures for MEP systems
  • Professional certification in quality management or construction quality assurance
  • Experience working on large-scale or complex construction projects
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare and present quality reports and dashboards
