Position Summary Provides quality patient care when performing diagnostic sonographic imaging and related procedures to demonstrate anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention. Qualifications Education/Training Meets American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) eligibility guidelines. Licensure/Certification • Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer(RDMS)registered through the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS). • Maintains current BLS/HealthCare Provider certificate. • Maintains RDMS physics registry and a minimum of two ARDMS registries pertinent to department. Experience One (1) year of experience in sonography. Knowledge of routine and complex ultrasound procedures which may include invasive procedures such as biopsies, amniocentesis, thoracentesis, breast cyst aspiration, breast localization, and knowledge of Doppler, 3D/4D, and pediatric sonography. Routinely demonstrates competency in performing ultrasound examinations pertinent to department. Responsibilities Essential Functions • Works closely with Radiologist to perform diagnostic sonographic exams. • Exercises professional judgment in performance ofservices and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care. • Delivers appropriate care while recognizing patient conditions and ensuring successful completion of procedures. • Complies with all state and federal regulations applicable to each modality. • Adheresto Orlando Health mission statements and commitment to excellence standards. • Assesses the patient’s physical condition and age specific needs. • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desiredresults. • Performs proper patientidentification,acquires patient’s clinical history, and assuresthatthe information is accurately documented. • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulatestechnical factorsto achieve high quality imagesfor interpretation. • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all relative anatomy is demonstrated. • Comprehends and complies with Quality Controlstandards and participates in all Quality Control tasks. • Administers medical aid as required for any emergency situation. • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipmentto prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases • Assists in supervision ofstudent sonographers and training of new sonographers. • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computersystems effectively and accurately. • Ensures safety of all customers. • Assists with directing daily workflow. • Orients and preceptsstaff. • Participates on committees. • Maintains punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies,the ADA, FMLA and otherfederal,state, and localstandards. • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines, and educational requirements. Other Related Functions • Follows established standards of practice for image processing and interpretation. • Maintains cleanliness of work area and equipment. • Maintains well stocked and organized work areas • May be required to work at any facility • Provides patient transport.
