Job description

Overview A Lead Aircraft Maintenance Technician serves as a working supervisor responsible for overseeing daily maintenance operations, ensuring regulatory compliance, and leading a team of mechanics to perform safe, efficient, and high-quality repairs on aircraft. This role requires a balance of hands-on technical expertise and leadership skills, acting as the key interface between maintenance personnel and management. Responsibilities Core Responsibilities Leadership and Supervision: Direct the daily activities of maintenance personnel, assigning tasks, setting priorities, and mentoring junior mechanics to ensure high-quality, efficient work practices. Technical Performance: Perform and supervise complex troubleshooting, inspections, repairs, and modifications of airframe and engine systems in accordance with FAA regulations and manufacturer manuals. Project Management: Coordinate maintenance schedules, estimate repair times and material needs, and track progress to minimize aircraft downtime. Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all maintenance tasks are documented, signed off, and compliant with Federal Aviation Regulations, company policies, and safety standards. Safety Assurance: Promote a culture of safety, including strict adherence to Safety Management Systems, environmental protocols, and proper use of personal protective equipment. Inspection and Quality Control: Conduct pre-flight and post-flight inspections, check aircraft components for defects, and ensure the airworthiness of aircraft before release. Vendor and Customer Communication: Interact with vendors, suppliers, and customers regarding aircraft status, parts ordering, and project updates. Compensation and Benefits: The expected compensation range for this position is between $137,000 - $188,300. Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Qualifications Holds an FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate in accordance with 14 CFR Part 65 Subpart D. Possesses a minimum of six years of experience working as an Airframe and Powerplant Technician. Possesses a minimum of four years working on business aviation aircraft. Possesses a minimum of two years of experience on Embraer Prator/Legacy aircraft. Completed manufacturer’s initial training on assigned aircraft type (preferred). Demonstrates a comprehensive knowledge of the PepsiCo Aviation Department Policies and Procedures Manual, CFRs, and other regulations applicable to the aviation maintenance environment. Demonstrated proficiency in people skills when interacting with others, both inside and outside the department. Demonstrated ability to communicate well with others—both conversationally and in writing.
