The Land Technician I/II supports the Land Department by managing lease obligations, maintaining accurate land data, and providing administrative and technical support. Responsibilities include reviewing payment obligations and recommending actions for new agreements and lease extensions, conducting research on lease surrender requests, and coordinating internal approvals. The role also supports opportunity generation by compiling title information, maintains data integrity in systems, and analyzes data to confirm leasehold Held By Production (HBP) status. Additional duties include coding invoices, responding to landowner inquiries in coordination with internal teams, and supporting overall land operations through accurate reporting and data management.
The Land Technician I//II responsibilities includes but are not limited to:
- Review payment obligations and make recommendations for new agreement payments, lease extensions payments, and other obligations.
- Perform preliminary research related to lease surrender requests. Ensure sub-departments conduct requisite review and make approvals.
- Assist opportunity creation by compiling available title and providing to support Land Acquisitions.
- Maintain data integrity.
- Analyze data to confirm leasehold HBP status.
- Handle coding of departmental invoices and other related expenses.
- Coordinate with Land Acquisitions and Owner Relations team to respond to Landowners inquiries.
- Provide technical and administrative support to Land Department personnel.
Required Experience and Skills:
- High School Degree/GED.
- 0-4+ years of experience in land administration, land analysis, or oil & gas operations.
- Familiarity with land systems, GIS/mapping tools, and regulatory databases.
- Understanding of oil & gas leases, title, and HBP concepts.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- High attention to detail with a focus on data accuracy.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and data management tools.
Preferred Experience and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Membership in AAPL (American Association of Professional Landmen) or similar organization.
- Proficiency in Quorum: Experience using the Quorum platform for land management tasks, including tracking ownership records, managing lease data, and generating reports.
- Proficiency in Salesforce: Strong working knowledge of Salesforce CRM, with the ability to manage and analyze contact and negotiation data. Skilled in tracking stakeholder interactions and supporting lease acquisition and campaign execution.
- Preference for candidates residing in the Appalachian region.
Remote work is being considered for this role excluding the following states: California, Connecticut, Delaware, Illinois, Indiana, Louisiana, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Jersey, New York, and Tennessee unless willing to relocate.
Selected incumbent will be placed into the position that best suits their abilities and experience level.
