What We Offer
The City and County of Denver offers a competitive salary commensurate with education and experience. Although the full salary range is posted, the target salary range for this position is $75,000-$78,000. We also offer generous benefits for full-time employees which include but are not limited to:

Location
In this position you will report to the Denver Wastewater Building (2000 W. 3rd) each morning, and then work at various locations across the City. Typical working hours are 6:30-3:00pm.

Wastewater Management oversees all aspects of wastewater functions, including the construction, operation, maintenance of the City’s sanitary and storm systems, and responding to customer inquiries regarding sewage and storm drainage service charges.
The Wastewater Management Division has an opening for a Quality Control Supervisor. This position will coordinate and assign the sampling, flow monitoring and data reporting functions that support the Wastewater Industrial Waste Program, sewer capacity determinations and water quality permit compliance.
Specifically as a Wastewater Quality Control Supervisor you will:
Supervise the daily operations of the Wastewater Sampling Section and Wastewater Quality Technicians and recommend process improvements and changes in practices and procedures to increase operating efficiency and expedite work flow
Plan, assign, and evaluate the work of staff members, provide technical expertise to staff, and establish unit and staff work goals and objectives
Review Sewer Design Plans (SUDP) for Industrial Waste Permit Applicants and approve or offer guidance to Industry Stakeholders on sampling structure compliance and program requirements
Coordinate the sampling aspect of the State’s MS4 Program in compliance of all government and environmental regulations. Maintain databases for the MS4 sampling program
Schedule Flow Measurements for Development Engineering Services and Interpret Flow Data from various wastewater accounts. Produce summary reports of investigations and projects working with multiple departments and external clients
Implement safety standards and develops procedures to ensure compliance
Develop goals, document performance, provide performance feedback and formally evaluate the work of employees; provide reward and recognition for proper and efficient performance. Assist staff to achieve performance standards and identify opportunities for continual improvement to performance standards
Respond to employee grievances and prepares written responses
Document causes for disciplinary action and initiates letters of reprimand and formal recommendations for disciplinary action
What You’ll Bring
Our ideal candidate has some or all the following experience, skills, and characteristics:
Practical experience in sampling and flow monitoring methods and equipment
Supervisory/crew lead experience
Knowledge of Lucity Asset Management
Database Management in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Access (or similar experience)
Experience with technical equipment – such as special use/programable equipment, CCTV for sewers, metal detectors, sampling, and tools related to testing wastewater
Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, procedures, and standards related to Wastewater Quality Control
Required Minimum Qualifications

Education requirement: Graduation from high school or the possession of a GED, HiSET or TASC Certificate.
Experience Requirement: Three (3) years of experience in wastewater sampling including exposure to and knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, procedures, and standards.
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirements.
License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment.
