The Opportunity:
Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Managed File Transfer (MFT) Platform Lead to lead the strategy, engineering, operations, and modernization of the enterprise MFT ecosystem. This role is responsible for ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable file transfer services across internal systems, external partners, cloud platforms, and SaaS applications.
The ideal candidate combines deep technical expertise in MFT platforms with leadership capabilities, operational excellence, security governance, and strong stakeholder management. The MFT Platform Lead will partner closely with Infrastructure, Cybersecurity, Application Development, Integration, and Business teams to deliver resilient and compliant enterprise file transfer solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Platform Leadership & Strategy
- Lead the enterprise MFT platform roadmap, architecture, modernization, and operational governance.
- Define standards, best practices, and operational procedures for secure file transfer services.
- Drive platform scalability, availability, resilience, and automation initiatives.
- Evaluate and recommend enhancements, upgrades, and new technologies related to file transfer and integration services.
- Act as the primary SME and escalation point for enterprise MFT services.
Platform Engineering & Administration
- Design, implement, configure, and support enterprise MFT platforms and related infrastructure.
- Manage file transfer workflows, automation, scheduling, encryption, and partner onboarding processes.
- Maintain high availability and disaster recovery capabilities for MFT environments.
- Support integrations with cloud, SaaS, APIs, middleware, ERP, and enterprise applications.
- Optimize system performance, monitoring, and capacity planning.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure adherence to enterprise security standards, audit controls, and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Implement and manage encryption protocols including PGP, SSH, TLS, SFTP, FTPS, HTTPS, and AS2.
- Partner with cybersecurity teams on vulnerability remediation, certificate management, and secure architecture reviews.
- Support audit activities, risk assessments, and compliance reporting.
Operations & Incident Management
- Lead production support activities for critical file transfer services.
- Manage incident resolution, root cause analysis, and problem management.
- Establish SLAs, operational metrics, monitoring, and reporting standards.
- Drive operational excellence through automation and process improvement initiatives.
Team Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor MFT engineers, administrators, and support personnel.
- Collaborate with business units, vendors, and external partners to support onboarding and integration requirements.
- Coordinate cross-functional initiatives involving infrastructure, cloud, networking, and application teams.
- Manage vendor relationships and support contracts.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 8+ years of experience in Managed File Transfer platforms and enterprise integration environments.
- 3+ years of experience leading technical teams or platform operations.
- Hands-on experience with one or more enterprise MFT solutions such as:
- Globalscape EFT
- IBM Sterling File Gateway / Connect:Direct
- GoAnywhere MFT
- Axway SecureTransport
- Cleo
- MOVEit
- Strong knowledge of secure file transfer protocols and standards:
- SFTP
- FTPS
- AS2
- HTTPS
- PGP Encryption
- SSH/TLS
- Experience supporting high-availability and mission-critical production environments.
- Strong troubleshooting and performance tuning experience.
- Familiarity with Linux/Unix and Windows server environments.
- Experience with scripting and automation tools such as PowerShell, Shell, Python, or Ansible.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, firewalls, proxies, DNS, and load balancing.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Knowledge of DevOps, Infrastructure as Code, CI/CD pipelines, and automation frameworks.
- Experience integrating MFT solutions with APIs, middleware, and enterprise integration platforms.
- Familiarity with compliance frameworks such as SOX, PCI-DSS, HIPAA, or GDPR.
- ITIL certification or experience with IT service management processes.
- Vendor certifications related to MFT technologies are a plus.
