The Pharmacy Technician – Community supports outpatient pharmacy operations at Marymount Hospital’s Medical Office Building pharmacy. This role includes data entry, prescription filling, and rotating cashier responsibilities while working in a collaborative team environment focused on delivering excellent patient service and achieving shared operational goals.
A caregiver in this position works 40 hours per week on rotating shifts between 8:00am and 4:00pm or 10:00am and 6:00pm.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
- Provide distributive pharmacy services, assistance and support for the pharmacist in an ambulatory/outpatient setting.
- Prepare prescription orders for dispensing to patients.
- Maintain inventory for the outpatient pharmacy.
- Assist with extemporaneous compounding of prescriptions and bulk compounding of prescriptions and over the counter items.
- Operate the point-of-sale cash register system.
- Monitor and act on reorder points, restock prescription and non-prescription area and remove expiring products.
- Provide multi-pharmacy support in assigned areas as needed.
Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- High School Diploma/GED
Must meet all of the following license and certification combination requirements at the time of application:
- Must hold an active registration as a Registered Pharmacy Technician through the Ohio Board of Pharmacy (OBOP).

- It is required, within 18 months from the date of hire: Must obtain a national certification as a Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the National Healthcare Association (NHA) AND Registration as a Certified Pharmacy Technician with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy
Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
- Six months of hospital experience
- Completion of a formal pharmacy technician training program
- Prior outpatient experience
Physical Requirements:
- Typical physical demands include ability to perform the job while standing, reaching, stretching, stooping, and sitting for prolonged times; manual dexterity sufficient to perform computer, dispensing functions of the job; ability to lift up to 20 lbs. while walking, stooping, bending and reaching.
Personal Protective Equipment:
- Follows standard precautions using personal protective equipment as required.
