Job description

The School of Applied Psychology is a national leader in psychological and health‑related education, known for award winning teaching and professionally accredited programs. It specialises in psychology, counselling, suicidology, and health services management, with a strong emphasis on practical, skill-based learning. Students are trained to apply evidence-based knowledge across diverse professional settings, preparing them to support individuals facing personal, social, vocational, or health challenges and to lead initiatives within the broader health sector.

As a Lecturer (Level B) in Applied Psychology, you will play a key role in shaping exceptional learning experiences and contributing to a vibrant, student-centred academic community. You will support high quality teaching, course leadership, and the ongoing enhancement of educational practice.

As a Lecturer (Teaching Focused), you will:

  • Lead student‑centred learning through engaging, authentic, and technology enhanced teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs.
  • Coordinate courses and programs, ensuring high quality delivery, assessment, and academic support.
  • Build positive staff student relationships that reflect respect, inclusion, and professionalism.
  • Strengthen industry and community engagement to enhance employability and work integrated learning opportunities.
  • Contribute to the scholarship of teaching and learning through reflective practice, innovation, and evidence based educational enhancement.

This is a fixed term (3 year), 40% part-time position primarily based at Griffith University Brisbane South (Nathan). As Griffith is a multi-site university you may be required to work across other locations.

Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary Range
The full time equivalent base salary will be Academic Level B range $117,076 - $139,031 per annum + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $136,979 - $162,667 per annum.

To be successful in this role you will have:

  • A PhD in psychology or a related field and a strong commitment to teaching excellence. Registration as a psychologist in Australia with AHPRA is optional and not mandatory. 
  • Experience delivering high quality tertiary teaching, including technology enhanced and authentic assessment practices.
  • Capability to coordinate courses and manage academic administration effectively.
  • A record of scholarly or professional activity that informs innovative, evidence-based teaching.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills that support positive learning environments and uphold university values.
