Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history.Northrop Grumman’s Space Sector is seeking a Aircraft Inspector – Level 2 to join our team in Dulles, VA. This position is 100% onsite and cannot accommodate telecommute work.
This position will work a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off.
In this job, you will:
Perform in-process and final inspections on circuit card assemblies under magnification in accordance with NASA 8739 or IPC workmanship standards
Perform inspections on box level assemblies and support environmental testing activities
Confirm acceptable quality standards and workmanship practices are being utilized in assigned work centers
Practically apply process specifications and use applicable workmanship standards during everyday job functions
Generate nonconformance reports for discrepancies discovered during inspection processes
Perform audits of work areas to ensure compliance with ISO 9001/AS 9100 procedures
Perform in-depth reviews of product build documentation for configuration audit to determine if as-built meets as-designed
Willingness to work 2nd shift activities and occasional overtime or weekend support is required
Basic Qualifications:
High School diploma or equivalent and 2 years additional education and/or related experience.
No clearance required to start
Able to use Microsoft applications and ability to learn new computer programs/applications easily.
Above average technical writing skills is mandatory.
Previous experience inspecting to either NASA 8739 series or IPC/J-STD-001 for circuit card assemblies, or equivalent
Have held workmanship certifications at previous employment locations for manufacturing standards (e.g. IPC-A-620, NASA 8739 series, etc.)
Advanced knowledge of both SMT and through-hole parts and ability to discern acceptability criteria of both part types
Must be able to read engineering documentation and inspect to drawings and parts lists, inspection plans, and supplemental instructions
Preferred Qualifications:
Associates (2 year) degree from accredited institution
Previous work in technical job field
Working knowledge of TIPQA and/or Costpoint database applications
Knowledge in how to read schematics and wirelists
Previous experience working in ISO-certified company
Active workmanship certifications from accreditation/standards companies, such as IPC

Primary Level Salary Range: $61,100.00 - $101,800.00The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
