- Support development of AFRY’s service offering in Japan (e.g. grid curtailment studies, interconnection advisory)
- Contribute to market intelligence and identification of emerging opportunities
Experience
- Typically 8–15 years of experience in power systems, transmission planning, or grid connection studies
- Experience in the Japanese power sector (utility, developer, EPC, or consultancy) is strongly preferred
- Good understanding of Japanese grid connection processes and utility practices
- Familiarity with practical constraints faced by renewable developers in Japan
- Exposure to renewable energy integration, grid constraints, or curtailment challenges is a strong advantage
Technical competencies
- Solid understanding of:
- power system fundamentals (load flow, short-circuit, stability concepts)
- transmission planning and grid connection processes
- Understanding of power system operations and dispatch mechanisms, grid congestion drivers and curtailment logic, renewable integration challenges
- Ability to perform pragmatic engineering assessments and interpret study results
- Experience with power system tools (PSS®E, DigSILENT Power Factory or equivalent) is beneficial
Soft skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to combine technical expertise with client interaction
