  • Salary: $87,813.00 - $116,824.00 + super + salary packaging

About the role

  • Lead innovative neuroscience research using animal models to investigate the causes and impacts of Alzheimer’s disease, with a focus on neuroinflammation and synaptic dysfunction

  • Develop and apply advanced in vivo research techniques, driving high-quality experimental outcomes and scientific discovery

  • Publish impactful research in leading peer-reviewed journals and collaborate on cutting-edge projects within a high-performing research team

  • Contribute to grant applications, research reporting, ethics submissions, and management of animal colonies to support ongoing programme success

  • Mentor and support Honours and PhD students while assisting with laboratory and administrative activities to ensure the smooth operation of the research programme


About you

  • PhD in Neuroscience (or related discipline, or near completion) with strong knowledge of neurodegenerative disease, neuroinflammation, immunology and/or virology, or equivalent research experience

  • Proven laboratory experience in neurodegeneration/Alzheimer’s or dementia research, with understanding of immune and inflammatory signalling pathways

  • Strong hands-on animal research expertise, including colony maintenance, ethics compliance, in vivo modelling (e.g. stereotaxic surgery, behavioural testing, drug administration), and tissue processing

  • Skilled in key analytical techniques such as immunohistochemistry and cellular imaging, with the ability to generate high-quality, reproducible data

  • Demonstrated research capability including critical thinking, experimental design, publication output, grant/ethics writing, and effective communication, with experience supervising or mentoring students in a fast-paced environment
