Quality Manager - Greenfield Civil & Data Centre Projects
Position Summary
Lead quality assurance and control initiatives for greenfield civil construction projects specializing in data centre facilities. This role encompasses quality management from ground-breaking through commissioning, ensuring delivery of mission-critical infrastructure to the highest standards.
Key Responsibilities
Quality Management System Development
Develop and implement comprehensive Quality Management Plans aligned with ISO 9001, ISO 55000, and data centre industry standards. Establish project-specific quality procedures, inspection and test plans, and hold point protocols. Create and maintain quality documentation systems including method statements, risk assessments, and quality registers. Ensure compliance with Uptime Institute standards (Tier III/IV) and relevant LEED/BREEAM certifications.
Civil & Structural Quality Oversight
Oversee quality assurance for all civil works including site preparation, earthworks, foundations, structural concrete and steel, underground utilities, drainage systems, and external works. Conduct and coordinate comprehensive concrete testing programs covering slump tests, cube testing, and core sampling. Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements. Manage non-conformance reporting and corrective action processes to maintain project quality standards.
Data Centre Infrastructure Quality
Ensure quality compliance for mission-critical infrastructure including raised floor systems, power distribution infrastructure, cooling systems and mechanical equipment, fire suppression systems, and security installations. Verify adherence to data centre-specific tolerances and environmental requirements. Coordinate quality checks for redundancy systems (N+1, 2N configurations) and oversee commissioning quality processes including integration testing.
Leadership & Coordination
Interface with clients, consultants, contractors, and regulatory authorities to maintain quality standards. Lead quality coordination meetings and toolbox talks. Mentor and develop site quality teams while managing third-party testing laboratories and inspection agencies. Prepare comprehensive quality reports and dashboards for senior management review.
Required Qualifications
Experience Requirements
Candidates must possess 15-18 years in construction quality management roles, including at least 3-5 years managing quality on greenfield civil projects from site mobilization. Proven track record on data centre projects with minimum of 2 completed facilities preferred. Experience managing quality on projects valued at $50M+ demonstrating capability to handle large-scale operations.
Technical Expertise
Deep knowledge of civil construction quality standards including ACI, BS, ASTM, and local building codes. Understanding of MEP systems integration in mission-critical facilities. Proficiency with quality management software such as Procore, Aconex, or BIM 360. Familiarity with BIM coordination, clash detection processes, and commissioning procedures. Knowledge of O&M documentation requirements essential.
Education & Certifications
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field required.
Professional Competencies
Exceptional attention to detail with systematic approach to quality assurance. Strong leadership and team management capabilities with excellent communication skills for technical reporting and stakeholder engagement. Problem-solving mindset with ability to implement corrective actions rapidly. Proficiency in MS Office Suite and project management tools required.
Working Environment
This site-based role requires regular presence during construction phases with flexibility for extended hours during critical construction activities. Candidates must be able to work in active construction environments with appropriate PPE. Travel requirements may apply for multi-site projects depending on portfolio scope.
