This is a hybrid role. Upon agreement between you and your supervisor, you are entitled to a flexible arrangement where you will be able to split your time between working from the office and working remotely.

Your responsibilities:
Act as SME for UK payroll processes, legislation, and payroll compliance
Ensure accurate and timely payroll processing in cooperation with vendors and internal stakeholders
Support payroll year-end activities, statutory reporting, reconciliations, and HMRC-related processes
Investigate and resolve complex payroll issues including overpayments, underpayments, SSP, pensions, retro calculations, and tax queries
Review payroll outputs, perform reconciliations, and ensure strong payroll controls and data accuracy
Monitor payroll integrations, interfaces, file uploads, validations, and resolve system-related issues
Identify operational risks, recurring payroll issues, and drive continuous process improvements
Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, Time & Attendance, and payroll providers including SD Worx
Support payroll accounting activities including accruals, journal validation, costing, and month-end processes
Provide payroll data and documentation for audits, compliance reviews, and reporting purposes
Manage payroll escalations professionally while maintaining strong customer focus
Support and coordinate a small payroll operations team, ensuring adherence to SLAs, controls, and quality standards
Prepare payroll reports, operational analyses, and reconciliations using advanced Excel skills
Our requirements:
Strong experience in in-house UK payroll operations
Experience in a Senior Payroll Specialist or Payroll Supervisor role
Hands-on experience with SD Worx payroll systems
Good understanding of payroll processes, including HMRC, pensions, statutory payments, and compliance
Experience with payroll integrations, interfaces, and data validation
Understanding of payroll accounting, reconciliations, accruals, and Finance collaboration
Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, pivot tables, data analysis)
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment
High attention to detail, ownership, and risk awareness
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
Confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive data
