Job description

The Ward Law Group is looking for an experienced Personal Injury Litigation Attorney to join its growing practice of plaintiff's lawyers and supporting case staff in our office in New York City. The Litigation Attorney will handle motor vehicle liability / automobile accident cases in litigation representing plaintiffs in New York. The lawyer's responsibilities will be focused on litigating cases, including trial prep and trial. Our law firm's generous and competitive compensation includes a base salary, non-recoverable draw, and standard commission fees / bonuses, as well as a full benefits package.

Responsibilities:

  • Day-to-day handling of litigation cases    
  • Drafting and filing of litigation documents to include pleadings, discovery requests, discovery responses, demands, motions and memoranda    
  • Guide plaintiff clients through the case process    
  • Interaction with expert witnesses to include conferences, drafting of expert reports and affidavits
  • Attendance and preparation for depositions, mediations, hearings, and court appearances

Salary: 

Salary Range: $120,000 – $270,000 per year (commensurate with experience)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:30 AM – 6:30 PM (EST)

  • Law degree (J.D. / JD / Juris Doctor) from a fully accredited law school   
  • An active member in good standing with the State Bar Association in NY   
  • Ideally 5+ years of Personal Injury / auto liability / MVA experience   
  • Ability to manage high volume of litigation cases   
  • Excellent client service and communication skills   
  • Self-starter driven by long-term career goals
  • Superior writing and oral advocacy skills
  • Paid Time Off: All employees who work 30 hours per week and above qualify for Paid Time Off. You will accrue a total of 4.62 hours per pay period for a total of three (3) weeks per year.
  • Health Benefits: All employees who work 30 hours per week and above will be eligible for benefits starting on the 1st day of the month following their start date. The firm covers a fixed amount which typically covers 40 - 65% of the employee premium, depending on the selected plan. The medical insurance plans include options for national coverage and free mental health services. There are also dental plans (with unlimited coverage) and vision plans to choose from at the employee’s expense. 
  • Disability Benefits: All employees who work 30 hours per week will have Short-term and Long-term Disability benefits, paid for by the firm.
  • Life Insurance: For all employees who work 30 hours per week and above, the firm provides 1X earnings life insurance coverage paid for by the firm. In addition, you will receive a Firm paid accidental death and dismemberment benefit that matches your life insurance coverage.
  • Supplemental insurance options include Critical Illness, Accident, Cancer, Hospital Confinement Indemnity insurance, Term Life insurance, and Whole life insurance
  • Retirement: All employees who work 30 hours per week and above qualify for the 401(K) plan. After the employee completes one year of service, the firm will match 100% of the first 3% of employee contributions and 50% on the next 2%, with immediate vesting.
