About the HLA Technologist
Participates in all aspects of ABO and donor histocompatibility testing including test management, performance, and evaluation.
Determines donor’s HLA and ABO initial typing within a pre-determined turnaround time.
HLA Typing using Real-Time PCR method.
Routine equipment maintenance.
Assists with quality control and quality assurance.
Participates in transplant on-call rotation.
Note: This is a part-time position, meaning the employee will work on an as-needed basis. Hours are not guaranteed and may vary depending on operational requirements. This role is ideal for individuals seeking flexibility or supplemental income.
Schedule: Part-time (as needed, flexible hours). Donor Network of Arizona's HLA laboratory is a 24/7 operation.
Shift: Varies based on department needs, including weekends and holidays. Must be available for on-call requirement from 6PM-8:30 AM, 7 days per week. 3-5 shifts minimum required per month.
Requirements
Minimum Education:
Meets current state, federal and other regulatory agency (ASHI) educational/experience requirements: doctoral, master's or bachelor's degree in a chemical, biological, clinical or medical laboratory science, or medical technology from an accredited institution or have earned an associate degree in a laboratory science, or medical laboratory technology from an accredited institution.
At least five years’ experience testing in accredited Histocompatibility or Immunological lab. Active CHS (ACHI) certification required.
