Job description

AECOM’s Building Engineering team continues to grow across Australia, and we are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer to join our team in Sydney.

You will work alongside experienced multidisciplinary engineers delivering innovative and technically complex building services solutions across major projects in aviation, healthcare, defence, education, data centres, commercial developments and transport infrastructure.

This is an opportunity to take a leading role in project delivery, contribute technical expertise across a diverse portfolio, and help shape projects that create lasting positive impacts for our clients and communities.

How you'll make a difference:

  • Lead the preparation and coordination of technical electrical design documentation across a variety of building services projects, ensuring high-quality and cost-effective project delivery.
  • Contribute to the planning, design and delivery of major multidisciplinary projects while mentoring and supporting junior engineers within the broader team.
  • Provide specialised technical advice across projects, applying your knowledge of Australian Standards, NCC requirements and industry best practice to review calculations, specifications and drawings.
  • Lead electrical components of projects across sectors including healthcare, aviation, defence, education, commercial, data centres and transport precincts.
  • Liaise with internal stakeholders across AECOM’s multidisciplinary engineering teams, contributing to client-facing activities and supporting strong project outcomes.
  • Undertake site inspections, design reviews and construction-phase services while continuing to develop your leadership and project delivery capabilities.

The following qualifications and experience are highly desired, but if you don’t tick all the boxes, you could still be a perfect fit for this role. Please apply, all applications will be considered.

The qualities that help you thrive:

  • Experience in electrical building services design including lighting, general and specialist power, earthing/lightning protection, power distribution and reticulation systems.
  • Sound understanding of Australian Standards, NCC requirements and authority approval processes, with experience reviewing technical calculations, specifications and design documentation.
  • Experience delivering projects across buildings sectors, with exposure to aviation, healthcare, defence, data centres or transport infrastructure highly regarded.
  • Proficiency using industry-standard software including ETAP, PowerCAD, Revit, AGi32 and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Relevant registration or qualifications such as RPEQ, RPEV or CPEng (or working towards) highly regarded.

Due to the nature of some of our projects, Australian Citizenship is highly regarded, with the ability to obtain Defence clearance viewed favourably.

Why you’ll love working with us:

  • Flexible work arrangements, including alternative start/finish times, part-time, job-sharing and hybrid work options
  • Purchase up to 6 weeks additional annual leave per year
  • Flex public holidays – swap Easter or other holidays for ones that suit you better
  • Continuous learning and growth - lunch and learns, professional development courses, financial study assistance, 5 days paid study leave, global career opportunities
