See Yourself in the Team

At CommBank, we’re helping Australians take one of life’s biggest financial steps: finding, buying and managing a home. Our Home Buying business within Retail Banking Services are focused on delivering the easiest, fastest and most trusted home buying experience in Australia, while supporting strong, responsible risk outcomes. We work across the full home ownership journey, from the first moment a customer explores their options, through to applying, settling, managing and repaying their loan. Our cross-functional crews bring together product, digital, channel, operations, risk and analytics expertise to create experiences that are simple, seamless and increasingly digital-first.

This role sits in Home Buying’s Channel Engagement & Specialty Products Crew.

The crew are leaders in delivering outstanding customer experiences for individuals embarking on their first or next, journey to find a home. They focus on making it easier for customers to connect with CommBank, whether they’re applying online, speaking with a lender, or moving between digital and human support.

Your Impact & Contribution

As an Advanced Analytics Manager in Channel Engagement & Specialty Products, you will utilise advanced analytical insights to support the continuous improvement of customer journeys, channel performance, lender engagement, digital-to-human handoffs, product experiences and commercial outcomes. In this role, you may expect to:

  • Use advanced analytics to understand how customers engage with CommBank across digital, lender-assisted and hybrid home buying journeys.
  • Identify friction points, drop-offs and opportunities to improve customer experience, channel performance and business outcomes.
  • Build, validate and maintain predictive models such as propensity, conversion, segmentation, lead prioritisation or next-best-action models.
  • Partner with product, digital, channel, operations, risk and frontline teams to frame business problems and shape analytical solutions.
  • Translate complex data and modelling outputs into clear, actionable recommendations for senior stakeholders and non-technical audiences.
  • Design and evaluate test-and-learn activity, pilots and experiments to understand what drives better customer and commercial outcomes.
  • Champion analytical best practice, including data quality, reproducibility, governance, ethics, defensibility and responsible use of AI.
  • Mentor analysts, guide analytical thinking and help uplift data capability across the team.
  • Apply machine learning techniques to practical business problems.
  • Continuously look for ways to automate, simplify and improve analytical processes, reporting and decision support.

Your Skills & Experience

The ideal candidate will bring deep technical expertise and a proven track record of applying advanced analytics to complex customer, product or channel problems. You will have a proven track record of success in advanced analytics, data analytics, data science, actuarial work, pricing, credit risk, customer analytics, or a related field, ideally within a large and complex enterprise environment.  In addition, we're seeking candidates who demonstrate:

  • Proven ability to lead complex analytical work from ambiguous business questions through to robust, explainable and commercially relevant recommendations.
  • Deep expertise working with large, complex and imperfect datasets, with advanced SQL capability, experience in analytical programming languages such as Python or R, and proficiency with visualisation or analytics platforms such as Power BI, Tableau, SAS or similar.
  • Practical experience building, validating or maintaining predictive models, including propensity, conversion, segmentation, behavioural, uplift, prioritisation, forecasting or next-best-action models.
  • Natural curiosity and an insight-led mindset, with the ability to combine quantitative data, qualitative inputs and business context to identify the behaviours, needs, friction points and influencing variables that matter.
  • Strong stakeholder influencing, storytelling and technical leadership skills, with the ability to translate complex analysis into clear recommendations for customer experience, channel strategy and business performance.
  • Experience mentoring analysts, guiding analytical work and championing best-practice analytics, including data quality, reproducibility, documentation, defensibility, governance, privacy, ethics and responsible use of AI.
  • A degree in a relevant discipline such as Actuarial Studies, Statistics, Mathematics, Economics, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science, Science or a related field would be well regarded.
