Job description

Founded in Switzerland in 1968, Zühlke is owned by its partners and located across Europe and Asia. We are a global transformation partner, with engineering and innovation in our DNA. We're trusted to help clients envision and build their businesses for the future – to run smarter today while adapting for tomorrow’s markets, customers, and communities. Our multidisciplinary teams specialise in tech strategy and business innovation, digital solutions and applications, and device and systems engineering. We excel in complex, regulated spaces including health and finance, connecting strategy, tech implementation, and operational services to help clients become more effective, resilient businesses.

If you share our values and want to do the best work, for the right reasons, we can offer you the chance to do it on a global scale and play a real role in shaping our exciting journey.

The Role

We’re looking for a DevOps Cloud Engineer to join our operations team, helping us operate, evolve, and continuously improve the digital platforms of our clients through an AI-driven, cloud-native approach. We are open to candidates across all seniority levels, including those ready for leadership responsibilities.

Important: To ensure a smooth review process, please submit all application documents (CV, cover letter) in English only.

How you’ll make impact

  • Set up, operate, maintain, and continuously improve cloud-native environments and production systems across multiple client accounts.

  • Act as a DevOps advocate for both mindset and tooling; leverage longstanding technologies alongside modern cloud-native solutions to help our customers continuously improve.

  • Develop and maintain Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, ARM, Bicep, Pulumi) and automation scripts (Bash, PowerShell, Python) to support deployment, maintenance, and incident remediation across multi-cloud environments.

  • Integrate AI-driven automation into CI/CD pipelines, observability stacks, and reliability frameworks to reduce manual toil, enhance predictive maintenance, and decrease mean time to recovery (MTTR).

  • Partner with Service Managers and Engineers to support application modernisation, AI-optimized cost management, and continuous service improvement.

What is important to us

  • At least 3 years of Cloud infrastructure or software engineering experience.

  • Operational mindset with hands-on experience in incident management, and reliability engineering. You understand automation vs. toil, capacity planning, and the value of proactive monitoring.

  • Deep experience with Cloud platforms (Azure or AWS preferred) and Kubernetes. Proficiency with IaC tools and automation stacks (Jenkins, Ansible, Maven, Gradle, Git, GitLab, Artifactory).

  • Strong understanding of SRE principles: SLIs/SLOs, error budgets, postmortems, and incident response practices.

  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal); fluency in German is highly valued (not requirment) for daily client interaction.

Requirements for Senior / Leadership Roles

  • Proven ability to balance hands-on technical work with strategic thinking to bring operational excellence into development projects.

  • Solid, demonstrable background in software development and architecture.

  • Experience providing expert customer consultation regarding new infrastructure projects, utilizing strong stakeholder management and leadership skills to influence without authority.

What we offer

  • Work life blend: we offer a safe & healthy workplace, with flexible working hours and the possibility to work from home

  • Profit share scheme: In addition to your annual salary, you may receive a profit share defined by the company’s success in the previous year

  • Global and Diverse Zühlke community: witness how colleagues from all our 16 offices across the globe come together to create a unique, positive and inclusive work culture, learning from one another at annual team camps, and celebrating year-end parties and other local festivities

  • Committed to development: we are committed to the growth of our people and are investing in your development. We’re empowering you to build the skills you need to make a positive impact, both personally and for our clients, today and in the future
