The Accounting Manager is a key member of the AP Americas accounting team and is responsible for owning the accounting function and overseeing day‑to‑day accounting operations. This role has final accountability for the integrity, accuracy, and timeliness of financial reporting, ensuring compliance with reporting deadlines, HQ requirements, SOX, and internal controls.
The Accounting Manager owns the month‑end close process end‑to‑end, provides technical judgment on accounting matters, reviews and approves financial deliverables, and serves as the primary escalation point for complex issues, audits, and policy decisions. This position provides strategic direction, technical leadership, and final sign‑off while operating in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and oversee the accounting team by setting priorities, providing strategic guidance, and ensuring accountability for timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Own the monthly, quarterly, and annual close process, ensuring all costs incurred are properly recorded, and reviewing and approving journal entries and account reconciliations.
- Ensure timely and accurate monthly reporting, review variance analyses, challenge results where necessary, and provide clear, concise explanations to support management and HQ reviews.
- Implement and enforce strong internal controls around the month‑end close in accordance with HQ and SOX requirements, proactively recommend process improvements and best practices.
- Lead internal and external audit processes, serving as the primary point of contact for auditors and ensuring timely resolution of audit requests and findings.
- Own accounting policies and procedures, ensuring documentation is complete, current, and aligned with evolving business needs.
- Prepare departmental reports and ad hoc analysis as needed.
- CPA certification required.
- BS in Accounting required.
- 7-10 years of progressive experience in an accounting position managing the team.
- Proven leadership, communication, and decision-making skills.
- Strong working knowledge with a major ERP system.
- Advanced level of proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- SOX compliance or internal controls experience.
- Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt, challenge the status quo, and drive improvements.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
