Dishwasher (Summer Contract)

WHAT'S THE JOB?

The dishwasher is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing all dishes, utensils, pots, pans, and kitchen equipment. This includes operating dishwashing machines, manually washing items as needed, organizing clean dishes, and ensuring the kitchen keeps a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene by following proper sanitation procedures. 

This is a short-term contract between June-August, requiring the individual to remain at the lodge for the full duration. All travel, accommodations, meals, snacks and beverages are provided. 

Key Responsibilities:

• Operating dishwashing machines and manually washing items as needed
• Organizing clean dishes, and ensuring the kitchen keeps a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene by following proper sanitation procedures
• Adhering to all food safety standards, ensuring proper handling, storage or chemicals and equipment
• Handling delicate items, such as glassware and utensils
• Disposing of all garbage, cardboard and recyclables as required
• Reading gauges and chemical test strips, and record the information accurately
• Assisting with kitchen prep during periods where no dishes are accumulated

Physical Demands:

• Lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 lbs
• Climb ladders and stairs
• Stand, walk, squat, kneel or sit according to task for extended lengths of time
• Perform repetitive hand work requiring full use of both hands
• Work with arms above shoulder height

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Large-scale kitchen assisting in camp settings, banquet halls and/or hotels is a strong asset
• Current Food Safe certification is an asset
• Ability to prioritize multiple task demands and organize a work schedule
• A team-player who is committed to providing client satisfaction
• Must have valid government issued photo ID for travel to site
• Passion for the outdoors with the ability to commit to the full duration of the work term while remaining at the lodge for the full duration
• Ability to successfully complete a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) level 3

Work schedule and remuneration:

This is a full time summer contract role. The Dishwasher will remain at the lodge for the full duration of the contract between June 20 -August 22 (approx.). All travel, accommodations, meals, beverages and snacks are provided. You may be required to work nights, weekdays, weekends, and general holidays. Wages are paid on an hourly basis with a starting rate of $17.50 per hour.
