Position Summary:

Evaluates and treats patients referred by a licensed physician in accordance with the Practice Act for the State of Georgia.  Applies a wide variety of therapeutic techniques for rehabilitation of speech-language, oral motor, and hearing disorders.  Performs specialized evaluations for dysphagia.  Complies with hospital policies and supports the mission and values of the hospital.

Position Requirements:

A.  Licensure/Certification/Registration: The Speech Language Pathologist must be duly licensed by the Georgia State Board.  The therapist must hold a Certificate of Clinical Competency from the American Speech-Language and Hearing Association. BLS required.

B.  Education: The speech-language pathologist must hold a Master’s degree from an American Speech-Language Hearing Association accredited program and licensed to practice by the Georgia State Board.  The therapist must also hold a Certificate of Clinical Competence.

C.  Experience:  Speech Language Pathologists should have as a minimum, broad experience in a variety of different clinical settings through their ASHA accredited clinical internship programs.  

D.   Special Qualifications: The speech-language pathologist is required to have a comprehensive knowledge of  Speech Therapy practices, procedures, and clinical skills.  Should also be knowledgeable of required documentation and billing that satisfies the Georgia State practice act, JCAHO requirements, and meets the requirements of Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurers.
