OVERVIEW : Plan, direct, and coordinate the activities of purchasing supervisors, inventory clerks, and related workers involved in purchasing materials, products, and services RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS : Work with complex management on the procurement of goods and services as required by the facility and company policies, including procurement of parts, packaging, operational supplies, safety supplies, employee supplies, services and any other items that may be needed. Weekly reports on cost, usage and other data as required by management. Manage, train, and direct all employees in the Purchasing Department as it pertains to purchasing policy and procedures, computer work as it pertains to purchasing and accounting, and interaction with other departments along with Purchasing Supervisor. Maintain oversight of Purchasing personnel to ensure timely delivery of goods and services that are ordered, and proper approvals are obtained for ordering and stocking items. Establish and maintain constructive relationships with vendors to obtain highest quality service and lowest-cost pricing for items and services. Maintain computerized procurement records and inventories. Assist in monthly and yearly inventory counts. Ensure proper back-up paperwork is maintained for all transactions. Serve as back-up for Parts Room Supervisor to set work schedules of Purchasing Associates, including weekend coverage of the Parts Room. The rotation of staff must be coordinated to always ensure coverage of the Parts Room when Maintenance personnel are working. If someone calls off or does not show for their shift, there must be a backup plan also posted to always ensure the coverage. Maintain proper and timely data in the time-keeping system for all Purchasing personnel. Various other duties or projects as needed. REQUIREMENTS : High school diploma, Bachelor’s degree, or Associate Degree preferred. Valid driver’s license with less than 6 points. 5 years purchasing experience. 2 years supervisory experience. Experience with ERP systems. Write legibly, read, understand, and speak English fluently. Ability to communicate in other languages is a plus. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word. Must be able to work all shifts, up to 7 days per week, and holidays on occasion. The schedule will rotate weekend work and for vacation schedules of all Purchasing associates. Ability to multi-task, work under pressure, and meet deadlines. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Follow company policies, and personally display behaviors that reflect the company's values, policies, and principles. Ability to work and contribute constructively within a team environment. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS : Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions, if applicable. Parts rooms may or may not be temperature controlled. May be exposed to noise ranges of up to 110 db. Must wear and use protective and safety equipment required for the job as directed by the Company. Occasionally lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 70 lbs.
