Additional Information About the Role Do you have experience with customer service and problem solving? BJC is looking for a Customer Service Rep I! This position will be taking calls all day around financial assistance applications. Preferred Qualifications Role Purpose The Customer Service Representative I serves as an advocate for patients and their families. This position provides communication support, guidance, interpretation and education on billing, claim status and various customer-related inquires. This position is also responsibile for assisting patients with outstanding patient balances, which includes the resolution of debit and credit accounts balances based on the information gathered from insurers, physicians, hospital personnel, governmental agencies and patients. Responsibilities Processes agency vendor requests, financial assistance applications, bankruptcy notifications, risk issues, attorney requests and other documents necessary to remediate patient account. Serves as a back-up contact for incoming customer inquires; utilizes customer service skills and tools to identify, research and resolve customer inquiries. Reviews patients account history to ensure all payors have been billed and validates the accuracy of payments and adjustments; updates patient account demographics, insurance and other information as applicable; documents all actions taken on patient accounts. Counsels patients on available payment options, such as payment arrangements, financial assistance, and various local, state and federal agencies which may be available to assist with the funding of health care services. Reviews processing trends and identifies issues; provides feedback and suggestions to improve service levels.
