Data Analytics -Power BI - IBM Cognos Consultant

Role Overview

The Power BI Developer is responsible to design and build interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Power BI based on business requirements and able to Create, modify and schedule Cognos reports. The role ensures reliable data flows, optimized reporting models, and high-quality analytics for business users.

Key Responsibilities

•       5–8 years of professional experience in a relevant data and reporting domain.

•       Proven ability to design, develop, and optimize interactive dashboards, reports, and visualizations in Power BI based and IBM Cognos on business requirements.

•       Strong hands-on experience in Power BI development, data modeling, reporting, SQL, and cloud technologies (Azure, AWS preferred).

•       Collaborate with business stakeholders, analysts, and SMEs to gather reporting needs, define data models, and prepare requirement mapping documents.

•       Extensive experience working with SQL and relational databases such as SQL Server, Azure SQL, or Redshift.

•       Solid understanding of Power BI Service features, including apps, workspaces, dataflows, datasets, and gateways.

•       Good knowledge and understand on IBM Cognos.

•       Implement Power BI performance optimization techniques, including Efficient DAX query design and measures

•       Created, modified and scheduled Cognos and Power BI reports for business Users.

•       Managing report performance through aggregation tables and query folding

Skills & Experience

•       5–8+ years in data analytics, BI development, or ETL engineering.

•       Strong expertise in IBM Cognos. Power BI, DAX, and data modeling.

•       Strong SQL skills (joins, CTEs, stored procedures, performance tuning).

•       Design and develop interactive Power BI dashboards and reports based on business requirements, ensuring data accuracy and usability.

•       Worked with IBM Cognos for generating business reports and Dashboards

•       Collaborate with business stakeholders and data teams to gather requirements, define KPIs, and translate needs into technical solutions.

•       Manage Power BI service components such as datasets, workspaces, dataflows, and gateways, ensuring smooth deployment and maintenance.

Educational qualification:

• BE, BTech, BCA, BSc (IT) MCA, MBA (IT) and MSc(IT)

• Relevant professional certifications strongly preferred.

Experience :

• 5–8 years of professional experience in a relevant data and reporting domain.
