The Role
As a Senior Sales Engineer for Enterprise accounts, you will act as a strategic Account SE, enterprise architect, and trusted advisor for some of Japan's largest organizations, partnering closely with Account Managers to drive security transformation initiatives and long-term customer success. You will drive solution value across Proofpoint’s portfolio—Email Security, Threat Protection, Information Protection (DLP/Insider Threat), Cloud App Security and emerging AI security solutions.
You will help customers design and execute security transformation initiatives spanning people, data, cloud, identity, endpoint, and AI security. You will run discovery, design architectures, deliver compelling demos, and lead POCs and production evaluations that result in measurable outcomes.
This role will be based in Tokyo, Japan.
Your day-to-day
- Account planning: partner with Account Managers to develop strategic account plans and multi-year security transformation roadmaps.
- Enterprise architecture leadership: lead architecture discussions across cloud, identity, endpoint, network, data protection, AI, and security operations platforms.
- Discovery & requirement mapping: capture business objectives, risks, current stack; define technical & business success criteria
- Solution architecture: design integrations across Proofpoint and the customer’s environment (M365/Google Workspace, IdP, SIEM, EDR, etc.)
- Stakeholder management: facilitate alignment across IT, Security, business units, and executives
- Executive engagement: act as a trusted advisor to CISOs, CIOs, and executive stakeholders, translating technical risks into business outcomes.
- Value storytelling: craft messages that resonate from the SOC to the boardroom
- Product demos & hands-on: showcase differentiated outcomes in realistic scenarios
- POC leadership: plan, define success metrics, collect evidence, measure impact, and deliver recommendations
- Competitive positioning: articulate differentiation tied to customer priorities
- Feedback loop: channel market and customer insights to product, marketing, sales, and support
- Sales enablement: create content, playbooks, and trainings for AMs and partners
- Standardize solutions to common challenges (checklists, architectures, playbooks)

What you bring to the team
- Demonstrated ability to engage with enterprise customers at both executive and technical levels, including CISOs, CIOs, and security leadership teams, aligning business objectives, security strategy, and enterprise architecture to drive measurable business outcomes.
- Experience as an Account SE, Solutions Architect, Strategic SE, or equivalent customer-facing technical role supporting enterprise accounts.
- 6+ years as an Account SE, Solutions Architect, Security Architect, or senior pre-sales engineer supporting enterprise customers.
- Experience designing enterprise architectures across cloud, infrastructure, identity, networking, endpoint, security, and modern workplace domains.
- Hands-on experience in one or more security domains, including email security, threat protection, data security, insider threat, cloud security, endpoint security, identity security, or security operations.
- Preferred experience from enterprise technology vendors such as VMware, AWS, Microsoft, Cisco, Palo Alto Networks, CrowdStrike, Zscaler, Okta, or similar organizations.
