Job Description:

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide professional leadership and work with Senior Management and Advisory Council (Finance and Audit Sub-committee) to contribute to the development and implementation of the organization’s risk management program in a manner that fulfills the mission and strategic goals of the organization.

  • Facilitate and advise all departments in assessing risks and designing risk management programs, systems and procedures within their own work areas.

  • Document, communicate and co-ordinate the development and Maintenance of a Risk Register to prioritize specific risks to WV Sierra Leone Ministry and ensure that regular monitoring of risk is carried out by Management

  • Assist the National Director in managing the Advisory Councils contribution to WVISL. (Tasks include, preparing quarterly presentations, minutes, changing calendar, coordinating capacity building, field trips and AC logistics)

  • Under the leadership of the National Director, support departments in implementing continuous improvement approaches to enhance systems and internal controls.

  • Work closely with both Internal and external auditors, WV Sierra Leone Attorney, Security Officers and anybody investigating any incidences that may result to loss of WV Sierra Leone assets, support the recovery of lost assets and communicate deterrent Measures eg Recovery of assets from ex-staff related party organizations and vendors.

  • Carry out special assignments and investigations at the request of the National Director, including but not limited to following up Tips Offs, Anonymous reports, whistle blowers, and bring it to undertake comprehensive investigation.

  • Support Management to evaluate the status of implementation of audit recommendations, responses received to determine reasonableness and recommend follow-up actions to the National Director.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND EXPERIENCE

  • Educational level required: Masters Degree in Organizational Development, Rural Development, Social Science or related field.

  • Technical Training qualifications required: Deep ICT skills and competences in using different reporting software.

  • Programming knowledge of one or more specific sectors (Food Security, Health, Education, Child Rights, Humanitarian Emergency, Food Aid etc) an asset

  • Experience: At least 7 years progressive responsibility in relief and development programs, 5 years field working experience in development programs management aspects.

  • Strongly committed Christian with evidence of mature faith. Aware of and willing to support the organisation in the pursuit of World Vision’s mission statement and have personal and family lifestyles that are consistent with World Vision core values

  • 3+ Experience required in organisational audit, risk and compliance background

  • Advisory council and board experience is an added advantage.

Technical skills & Abilities

  • Demonstrated competence in partnership development, proposal development, and grant management rules for major government, bilateral or multilateral donors such as USAID, IRISHAID, EU, UN, CIDA ..

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and relational skills, especially in a cross-cultural environmt, and ability to analyse and solve problems, persuade, network and negotiate

  • Experience of proven smooth relations with WV major Government and sponsorship funding support offices is preferred.

  • Good planning and organizational skills,

  • Advanced user knowledge of databases, different reporting software and computer applications

  • Fluency in English required (read and write)

  • Good understanding of child rights and protection.

Working Environment / Conditions:

  • Work environment: Office-based with frequent travel to the field

  • Travel: 30% Domestic/international travel is required.

  • On call: 20%
