 Position of Laboratory Technician - Extraction Team Available!

  • Fast-paced, teamwork, laboratory-based role at AsureQuality in Lower Hutt, Wellington
  • Tuesday to Saturday
  • Full time position

The Opportunity

AsureQuality is looking for a laboratory technician to join the Extraction team. The role involves testing a wide range of matrices for Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines.   

This is a fabulous opportunity for people to start and deepen their career in chemistry through receipt and handling of samples and performing a range of extraction techniques. Full training is provided on the job, including quality compliance with ISO 17025 and safety measures to ensure the job is done reliably and safely according to the WorkSafe Act 2015.

The Wellington AsureQuality laboratory is a fast-paced work environment requiring collaboration and teamwork. Our ideal candidates will have great attention to detail, communication skills, with previous experience in a similar quality controlled working environment being a plus.

The opportunity is for a full time contract working in the Extraction team, with potential to deepen your knowledge in other areas of the lab further on. About You

To be successful in the role you will require:

  • A passion for science and environmental issues
  • Knowledge of chemistry principles and laboratory techniques
  • Previous experience working in a fast-paced, communicative environment
  • Exemplary attention to detail and both written and verbal communication skills
  • Pride in what you do, the quality of your work and a true team ethos
  • A tertiary education in Chemistry or similar area is well regarded in this role

It would be advantageous if you also have:

  • Proven experience working in a laboratory environment
  • Strong proficiency in sample preparation and laboratory analysis techniques
  • Hands-on experience operating laboratory equipment and instruments
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to accurately record and document data
  • Solid understanding of laboratory safety protocols and regulatory compliance
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Proficiency with computer systems and laboratory information management software
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills
  • Familiarity with quality control procedures and standards
  • Knowledge of analytical techniques relevant to the laboratory setting (preferred)
  • Relevant laboratory certifications or training (preferred)
