Purpose
This position is responsible for managing and overseeing complex accounting activities, including the analysis, recording, and reporting of financial data for Texas Global. The role ensures accurate financial reporting, supports month-end and year-end close processes, and applies advanced accounting knowledge to prepare financial statements and special reports while exercising independent judgment.
Responsibilities
On a daily basis, this position will manage and process a variety of financial transactions for Texas Global programs, including invoices, reimbursements, credit card payments, travel cash advance, and scholarships, while ensuring compliance with University accounting policies and procedures.
The role will also involve reconciling accounts in the DEFINE accounting system, maintaining financial ledgers, preparing financial reports, resolving payment and billing issues with vendors and departments, supporting student financial activities, and assisting with budgeting, financial analysis, and other special projects.
Required Qualifications
High school diploma or GED. At least 4 years of governmental or commercial accounting. Demonstrated leadership skills, including a strong work ethic. Superb interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to handle multiple tasks with a keen attention to detail, understanding, and acceptance of cultural differences and the diversity within the campus and community. Ability to work under pressure, be flexible, adjust to fluctuating priorities, and produce reliable work. Ability to problem solve and research financial inquiries, work independently and as part of a team, exercise sound independent judgment, be tactful, and diplomatic. Maintain appropriate confidentiality and integrity of information. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, such as Outlook, Excel, and Word.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor or Masters degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or related field. Certified Public Accountant. Five plus years of professional level experience in the accounting or finance field. Progressively responsible experience in finance or accounting with experience in planning, forecasting, and financial analysis. Previous experience with financial administration at the University of Texas at Austin, including interaction with the University's administrative applications such as Workday, FRMS, DEFINE and budgeting activities. Experience with COGNOS, reporting writing packages, and business intelligence tools. Experience working with students in a University setting.

$23.50
