Obtains hardcopy and electronic documents from third parties and patient and payer lockboxes. Scans and indexes documents accurately and efficiently. Routes workflow for received documents to appropriate departments. Uses professional judgment to decide routing and document retrieval needs of correspondence. Indexes documents to patient accounts in the patient accounting system. Shares documents with other departments for special processing. Performs quality checks on all scanned documents. Detects image errors and determines their cause. Maintains the integrity of all documents. Contacts payors and other third parties when additional information is necessary. Works with third-party lockbox and technology vendors to improve data capture processes. Tests enhancements and changes in the data capture process. Other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word) [Required]
• Ability to problem solve [Required]
• Professional and effective in communication skills [Required]
• Demonstrate a strong attention to detail and thoroughness [Required]
• Strong data entry skills [Required]
• Medical terminology, knowledge of insurance and reimbursement procedures [Preferred]
• Basic understanding of Epic patient accounting system [Preferred]
Education:
• High School Grad or Equiv [Required]
Field of Study:
• N/A
Work Experience:
• Experience with document management systems such as: OnBase, ImageNow, OneContent, etc. [Preferred]
• Experience with insurance plans (e.g. Medicaid, Medicare, Blue Cross, Aetna, Cigna, etc.) [Preferred]
• Three years of professional work experience. [Required]
