At Westpac, we are creating better futures together. This role plays a key part in ensuring our Linux platforms are stable, secure, and resilient, supporting systems that are critical to our customers and colleagues.
We are looking for an Infrastructure Engineer specialising in Linux and RHEL to join our Infrastructure Services and Digital Workplace team on a 12-month fixed term basis. You will provide hands on operational support, support continuous platform improvement, and work closely with engineering squads and internal customers in a complex enterprise environment.
Ko tō mahi | What you’ll do
Provide hands on support for enterprise Linux RHEL infrastructure alongside third party partners.
Act as an escalation point for operational issues and major incidents.
Maintain, patch, administer, and support Linux environments using Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
Support platforms change through assessment, documentation, and implementation of improvements.
Apply structured troubleshooting and provide clear root cause analysis.
Work closely with business and engineering squads to improve system resilience.
Support risk management, compliance configuration, and monitoring activities.
Maintain accurate and up to date technical documentation.
Build strong working relationships with internal customers and stakeholders.
Proactively identify and deliver continuous improvement initiatives.
Nā tāu rourou | What will you bring?
At least five years of relevant IT experience in complex enterprise environments.
Proven hands-on experience supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux in production.
Experience with Linux maintenance, patching, administration, and OS deployment.
Demonstrated experience using Red Hat Satellite for enterprise patching.
Strong troubleshooting skills across Linux environments using tools such as tcpdump, strace, netcat, iperf, iostat, and top.
Experience supporting Kerberos in RHEL environments version 8 and above.
Working knowledge of VMware and virtualisation technologies.
Basic networking, storage, and backup and recovery knowledge.
Scripting experience, with exposure to Ansible being beneficial.
Familiarity with tools such as ServiceNow, Jira, Confluence, Dynatrace, or SharePoint.
Strong collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills.
