Junior Gameplay Programmer

We are looking for a skilled Gameplay Programmer with expertise in Unreal Engine and C++ for a AAA mobile shooter project. The ideal candidate will be accountable for all aspects related to gameplay, ensuring an engaging and seamless player experience. 

Responsibilities:

• Write clear, structured, and maintainable code that meets performance, scalability, compatibility, and modularity standards.

• Develop simple gameplay features and functionalities under the guidance of senior developers.

• Follow established development processes, workflows, and team standards.

• Perform testing, debugging, profiling, and maintenance to ensure optimal performance.

• Participate in peer code reviews and incorporate feedback.

• Document technical work clearly according to team standards.

• Identify issues and escalate them appropriately to senior developers or leads.

• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional team members (designers, testers, etc.).

• Contribute to small-scale features or tasks that support overall game delivery. 

• Mastery of modern programming languages such as C++, Lua and Python.

• Familiarity with code review practices and version control systems (e.g., Swarm, Perforce, Git).

• Basic understanding of game development concepts (gameplay systems, UI, NPC AI).

• Exposure to game engines or frameworks (e.g., UE4, UE5, Unity).

• Understanding of core computer science principles, including data structures and algorithms, algorithmic efficiency, object-oriented programming and design patterns.

• Passion for continuous learning and improvement of programming skills.

• Awareness of multi-disciplinary development environments and milestone dependencies in game production. 

 

Nice to have:

• Experience working in a collaborative team environment on game projects.

• Sense of ownership and responsibility for assigned tasks.

• Ability to proactively seek feedback and apply it to improve work quality. 

• Strong communication skills for cross-discipline collaboration. 

• Additional language: Mandarin and/or French
