Job description
The Proposal Writer - Government role is part of the Equifax Workforce Solutions Proposal Development Team – reporting to the Strategic Growth Initiatives and Business Center of Excellence. In this role, you will work closely with Equifax Proposal Development Directors to develop compelling RFX responses and proposals with the objective of closing sales opportunities in green fields and the installed client base. In this role, you will engage with cross-functional teams including Sales, Account Management, Pre Sales, Professional Services, Solutions Consulting, Product Development, Operations, Legal/Contracts, Security, and various subject matter experts to gain the necessary content for inclusion in RFX and proposals. Demonstrated technical writing skills, effective time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines, commitment to teamwork, exceptional verbal communication skills and detailed follow-through are keys to success in this role.
What you'll do
- Responsible for writing, editing, and proofreading of RFX response and proposal content to support the delivery of complete and compliant technical, management, and cost proposals.
- Assist with the development of winning themes and ensure themes are present and consistent throughout responses; provide a consistent voice to the response.
- Perform detailed compliance assessment of client RFX requirements against current and future product capabilities.
- Deliver exemplary standard of writing quality control throughout the proposal process under tight deadlines.
- Provide strategy and management for overall RFX response content and messaging based on client objectives.
- Produce compelling first draft cover letters, executive summaries, and value proposition statements adhering to client requirements.
- Ensure answers are relevant/well written to consistently present one voice throughout the document.
- Coordinate with cross-functional, geographically-diverse teams and individual subject matter experts to ensure that client solution requirement components are addressed and written accurately.
- Participate with capture teams to define proposal strategy, win themes, and discriminators.
- Consistently evaluate and submit content to the Creative Content Manager to improve the Equifax Workforce Solutions RFX/proposal database.
- Coordinate with Proposal Development Directors in defining and evaluating compliance as it relates to proposal outline and proposal documentation.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending company-sponsored training, educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Maintain adherence to company policies and procedures with regard to proposal preparation.
- Conceptualize and create tables, figures, graphics, and other presentation techniques to optimize impact of information provided.
What experience you need
- Seven+ years of experience in technical proposal writing
- Bachelor’s degree or relevant experience
- 3-5 years Government proposal experience

- Strong background in Communications, Journalism, and/or Marketing.
- Strong business acumen and demonstrated strong understanding of aligning product/managed service offerings to customer mission and business requirements.
- Strong technical background.
- Ability to operate independently with limited guidance and oversight.
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral).
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, Salesforce, Loopio (database software), Adobe Suite in addition to other industry/enterprise applications to produce response documents with the upmost of aesthetic clarity.
- Exceptional facilitation and organization skills.
- Function in a deadline-driven work environment, in which priorities change quickly and work products must be generated rapidly .
- Work both in an independent and team environment, with the ability to switch between the two modes quickly.
- Makes decisions based on insights gained through experience regarding accepted ways of accomplishing work that are not formally documented.
- Demonstrated commitment to compliance and process improvement.
- Ability to edit content in order to create a singular cohesive voice on a multi member team to ensure quality, timely winning proposals.
- Extensive experience managing proposals from capture/kickoff to contract award.
- Working knowledge of at least one of the following business areas: IT related Software Solutions; HR Payroll Solutions; Business Analytics; General Technology Sales
- Experience with RFX management and proposal software applications
- Experience with web-based, online procurement RFX interfaces
- Experience in utilizing and maintaining proposal management knowledge databases. Loopio (RFP management software) preferred.
- Combination of business and technical experience.
- Ability to travel up to 10%.
- Proposal development certification (APMP) or project management certification (PMI) preferred. Certification is required within 18 months of being in the role.

- In-depth knowledge of the federal business development lifecycle
- In-depth knowledge of the Federal Risk and Authorization Management Program (FedRAMP)
