This is not routine nursing. As a Wage RN on 6 East, you will care for patients recovering from traumatic injuries requiring complex orthopedic intervention. You will be part of a fast-moving acute care environment where clinical judgment, teamwork, and adaptability directly influence outcomes. The Role
Acute Orthopedics & Trauma 6 East is a high energy inpatient unit caring for patients following orthopedic trauma, surgical repair, and complex musculoskeletal injuries. The team manages patients from admission through early recovery, collaborating closely with orthopedic surgeons, trauma services, therapy teams, and case management.
This position is ideal for RNs with acute care experience who value autonomy, clinical challenge, and orthopedic exposure.

Wage premium in addition to base compensation for this flexible role
This role plays a vital part in supporting orthopedic trauma capacity and ensuring high-quality care for patients when they need it most.
What your day looks like
•
Deliver evidence-based nursing care to orthopedic trauma patients in an acute inpatient setting
•
Manage postoperative care including pain control, mobility progression, wound management, and neurovascular assessment
•
Collaborate with orthopedic trauma surgeons, advanced practice providers, physical and occupational therapists, and multidisciplinary care teams
•
Respond to changes in patient condition with strong clinical assessment and escalation skills
•
Support safe transitions of care through patient education and interdisciplinary coordination
•
High patient acuity with a strong orthopedic trauma focus
•

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program required. Bachelor of Science in Nursing required within 5 years of hire. Experience: 1 year of relevant experience. Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia. American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS certification required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Job requires standing for prolonged periods, frequently traveling, bending/stooping. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; Attention to detail and ability to write legibly; Ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
The starting base rate for this role is $39.90 hourly. Individual compensation will be determined by the selected candidate's qualifications, previous work experience, and/or education.
