Job description

Job Title: Extended Care Teacher Location: Early Alpine Academy Hours: Monday–Friday, 3PM – 6 PM (15 hours/week) Compensation: $26/hour

Position Summary

Early Alpine Academy is hiring caring, energetic team members for our Extended Care program. During this important end-of-day role, your number one responsibility is the children: actively engaging them in play, creating new and exciting activities each day, and making sure every child feels safe, joyful, and cared for during their time with you. Once the children are picked up, the focus shifts to closing down the space—cleaning, resetting, and preparing the environment for the next day.

This role is ideal for someone who is creative, dependable, and excited to take ownership of both the fun and the function of the afternoon program.

Key Responsibilities

Provide active supervision of children during extended care hours

Engage children in age-appropriate themed activities, promoting creativity, movement, and social development

Maintain a safe, nurturing, and respectful environment

Assist with cleaning and tidying of classrooms, shared spaces, and materials at the end of the day.

Including but not limited to…

Vacuum, mop, and sweep the floors

Spray toys with disinfecting solution

Deep clean toys as needed

Take out trashes

Complete dishes

Wipe down surfaces

Ensure compliance with all licensing and safety regulations

Communicate clearly and professionally with families, coworkers, and supervisors

Support daily routines and transitions with patience and positivity

Qualifications

Previous experience working with children ages 0–5

Ability to manage multiple age groups with attentiveness and care

Strong communication and collaboration skills

Must be reliable, punctual, and able to maintain professionalism in all interactions

Willing and able to complete annual professional development through the Montana Early Childhood Provider Registry

Must be current with CPR and first aid for both infants and adults or be willing to complete every two years

Ability to lift up to 40 lbs and engage in active play and movement

Schedule & Pay

Hours: Monday through Friday, 3 PM – 6 PM (15 hours per week)

Pay Rate: $26/hour

Paid Leave: 30 hours of paid leave annually (equivalent to two weeks of scheduled work)

This is a wonderful opportunity to be part of a close-knit, mission-driven team while helping create a positive, memorable end to each child’s day. If you are passionate about early childhood education and enjoy working in a supportive and joyful environment, we’d love to hear from you!
