About the Role
Springer Nature is seeking an Associate or Senior Editor to join the Research Cross-Journal Editorial Team.
This exciting position involves being part of a team of editors that will work closely — and flexibly — with the existing Nature Research Journals such as Nature Geoscience. The ideal candidate would be a critical thinker with a deep understanding of geosciences, curiosity, and a desire to learn about areas beyond it, and who can think on their feet.
Role responsibilities:
Supporting editorial processes relating to manuscript assessment and the peer-review process.
Commissioning, editing and writing content for journals.
Working closely with Chief Editors and journal teams, while reporting to the Head of the Research Cross-Journal Team, on other aspects of journal content and strategy, as appropriate.
Experience, Skills & Qualifications:
Research experience to PhD level or equivalent in geoscience, with particular emphasis on biogeochemistry, hydrology, geomorphology, or closely related areas.
A keen interest in research both within and beyond your specialty.
The ability to absorb and understand new areas of research.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Time management and work prioritization skills.
Postdoctoral experience is not required but would be a plus.
Previous editorial experience is desirable but not essential.
Additional expertise in related disciplines would be advantageous.
Applicants must include to be considered
A brief cover letter explaining your interest in the role, relevant experience, preferred office location, salary expectations and current notice period.
A CV detailing your education, employment history, list of published scientific papers, and any achievements demonstrating your suitability for the position.
A concise discussion of a recent scientific development that you have found particularly exciting, and why (should not exceed 1 page). This should not be solely focused on only one article published in a journal.
Closing Date: 22 June
