We are recruiting a Healthcare Assistant to join our Hospice Care at Home (Overnight Service), Wakefield, West Yorkshire.
Hours: Part-time – up to 36 hours per week (various 9-hour night shifts, 10pm–7am)
Salary: Marie Curie Clinical Pay Scale Band 2 (aligned with AfC) £25,272 + enhancements (pro rata)
Hourly Rate: £18.22 Saturday and weekday and £23.64 for Sunday and Bank Holiday between the hours of 8pm and 6am

Join the Marie Curie Hospice Care at Home Overnight Service supporting people with a life-limiting illness across Wakefield, including Castleford, Ossett, Pontefract and surrounding areas. As part of the Planned Service you will visit one patient per evening and provide compassionate, one-to-one care in patients homes, and offer practical and emotional support to families at a time when it matters most.
Within this rewarding role you’ll be working independently overnight, following each patient’s established care plan and using your initiative when needed. Duties will include personal care and hygiene support, monitoring symptoms, supporting with medicines in line with the care plan and local guidance, maintaining accurate records, and providing reassurance and emotional support to patients and those close to them. If you have experience in Palliative and end of life care and are confident working in the community or as a lone worker, we’d love to hear
What we’re looking for:
- UK licensed driver with access to a car (business insurance essential)
- Relevant community and/or lone-working experience
- NVQ Level 2/3 qualification (or equivalent certificate/diploma)
- Emotional resilience and confidence working independently (with excellent ongoing training and support provided)
- Recent experience providing care for people with a life-limiting illness or palliative care needs
