ABOUT AURELIAN
Aurelian builds AI tools that help 911 centers handle more with less, so telecommunicators can stay focused on what matters most and communities get the response they need.
AVA https://www.aurelian.com/ava is a conversational AI agent that answers non-emergency calls; the agent routes, triages, and resolves the calls without any human intervention. By handling administrative calls like noise complaints, lost dogs, and parking inquiries, AVA eliminates hold times and lets call-takers focus their energy on actual emergencies.
CORA https://www.aurelian.com/cora supports call-takers on the calls that matter most. CORA is an on-screen assistant that delivers real-time SOP checklists, smart reminders, and contextual guidance as an emergency call unfolds, so dispatchers stay calm, consistent, and confident when every second counts. When AVA detects an emergency mid-call, it transfers the caller to a telecommunicator and passes along the caller details, location, incident type, and key statements directly into CORA. The call-taker never starts from scratch.
The problem we're solving is serious. The average emergency communications center is 30% understaffed nationwide. Staffing shortages drive burnout and attrition, which makes the shortage worse. Meanwhile, 60-80% of the calls coming in aren't even emergencies at all. Aurelian addresses both sides of that equation: AVA reduces unnecessary call volume, and CORA makes every emergency call more manageable for the people handling it.

WHY JOIN US
This is a rare seat, and the first role of its kind within the company: working directly with the CEO/founding team on the decisions that set Aurelian's future direction. We move fast, and as we grow those decisions are getting bigger and more frequent. We're looking for someone to take them on at the highest level - what we build, what we cut, what "good" looks like, and why. This is built for someone with exceptional judgment who wants to be at the center of how the company thinks and gets things done.
Day to day, that means getting close to customers, pressure-testing direction with data and first principles, and turning the hardest open questions into calls the team can execute on.
WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING
- Pair sharp judgment with real operational horsepower - you turn decisions into outcomes and don't let things stall.
- Take on the company's hardest, highest-stakes decisions end-to-end — framing the question, gathering the evidence, making the call, and standing behind the tradeoffs.
- Act as the CEO's thought partner / trusted advisor on the calls that matter most, and earn the trust to make more of them over time.
- Turn messy, ambiguous problems into clear direction the team can move on.
- Get close to customers and the market, and turn what you learn into sharper decisions.
- Bring rigor: use data, first-principles reasoning, and clear written argument to drive decisions rather than opinion or consensus.
- Move fast and own outcomes - you measure yourself by results, not activity.
WHO WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Founders / ex-founders - you’ve made high-stakes calls with incomplete information and lived with the consequences.
- Top-tier strategy consulting or a “decisions all day” seat - you’ve been trained to break down ambiguous problems fast and defend a recommendation.
- Trading / quant / other high-intensity judgment fields - you make rapid, high-quality decisions under uncertainty and are sharp with data.
- Exceptional product people - PMs known for judgment and taste, not just shipping.
