Job description
- Maintain general building and facility electrical equipment in good working order.
- Perform preventive maintenance, and limited duties associated with plant building, and process equipment. In addition to the electrical duties, the maintenance electrician must be able to perform hydraulic, plumbing, and light mechanical repairs to equipment, machinery, and building.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems and industrial equipment such as motors, starters, relays, solid state circuitry electro-mechanical components, AC and DC solid state drives or PLC's.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics; understand, test and troubleshoot motor and other types of controls; and be able to troubleshoot, repair, replace and upgrade all types of electrical circuits.
- Entry-level understanding to complex troubleshooting on both electrical and mechanical systems
- Repair or replace electrical circuitry and switches
- Perform required preventive maintenance
- Must be familiar with motors and gearboxes, AC/DC controls, PLC's, VFD's, instrumentation
- Working knowledge of replacing and repairing electrical components up to 480 VAC, 3 phase and motor control systems
- Recommend and perform all preventative maintenance procedures required on plant equipment including mills, drawing machines and spooling set-ups
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics; understand, test and troubleshoot, repair, replace and upgrade all types of electrical circuits
- Must be comfortable working with high-voltage three-phase circuits, generators, transformers, switchgear and many other types of equipment
- Ability to install new equipment, along with associated wiring and controls
- Ability to perform as a multi-skilled tradesman a must
- Ability to work in confined spaces
- Must be familiar with the National Electrical Code
- Able to use hand and power tools and measuring equipment and devices
- A high school graduate or GED and a minimum of 5years related experience performing in an industrial/diversified facility, with demonstrated ability for electro-mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and equipment repairs
- Must be able to read, write, and problem solve
- Strong Mechanical aptitude
- Able to work from complicated blueprints, specifications and schematic diagrams
- Capable to perform math calculations generally equivalent to that attained through an accredited apprenticeship program
- Ability to use diversified electrical test and troubleshooting equipment and devices
- Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) experience
- Demonstrate good problem-solving skills
- Motor Drive and control knowledge
- Regular attendance at work is required
